$1.3 million construction lighting project to begin in Opelousas

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- Want more lighting on the interstate? The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is working on that.
The DOTD has announced it will begin a $1.3 million construction project Oct. 30 along a 1-mile section of I-49 at the La. 31 interchange.
The work is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting.
The project is estimated for completion in Fall 2026 according to a DOTD news release.
"Drive with caution through the site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," the release said.
