Severe weather and flood threat Saturday
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Severe thunderstorms and flooding rains will be possible Saturday.
There will be two rounds of storms to track Saturday. The first comes after 6 a.m. Saturday and carries through the lunch hour. The second batch of storms starts after 7 p.m. Saturday evening and carries into early Sunday morning.
These storms could be strong or severe, at times producing damaging wing gusts and even a few tornadoes. Acadiana is under a Level 2 Slight risk for severe weather potential.
The multiple rounds of storms will also lead to flood concerns as they will be slow-moving once they enter Acadiana. Across the area, we will generally see 2 to 4 inches of rain, but there will be pockets of heavier rain that falls. This could lead to flood concerns, especially in flood-prone areas.
The storm threat will come to an end before 6 a.m. Sunday and quieter weather returns to Acadiana heading into next week.
