Severe Storm and Heavy Rain Threat Saturday
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Storms will move through the area Saturday bringing a severe threat and heavy rain threat to the area. The first round of storms arrives Saturday morning through the lunch hour. These storms will have the potential of damaging wind gusts and tornadoes.
We will see a break in the action midday through the early evening hours, though a few storms will still be possible. Another round of storms arrives later this evening into early Sunday morning. Once again, severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will be possible. Across the area, 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts will be possible.
After early morning showers wind down, most of Sunday will see drier conditions. Sun and clouds will mix as temperatures reach the lower 80s. A few showers will be possible later in the day. Wrap-around showers will work their way back into the forecast Monday and Tuesday as an area of low pressure remains stationary to our north. Finally, a strong cold front arrives Wednesday to bring our first true taste of fall just in time for Halloween.
