Opelousas shooting suspect arrested, third individual detained
OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- The Opelousas Police Department has released an update regarding the shooting that occurred on Oct. 2, in the 900 block of Wallior Street.
Xavier Orville, 18, who was initially identified as one of the victims during the shooting, has now been arrested. This now makes him the third individual arrested in the shooting incident.
Officials said they learned Orville exited a residence armed with a rifle and fired multiple shots toward the suspects’ vehicle as it was leaving the area.
During the shooting, one of the rounds fired struck a water valve located on the property of Opelousas Catholic School. Evidence supporting this has since been recovered by investigators.
In the shooting, witnesses said they heard as many as 100 rounds fired from what they think were automatic weapons.
