All lanes of EB I-10 blocked at Evangeline Thruway due to vehicle fire
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Eastbound I-10 is at a standstill in Lafayette due to a fire, authorities said.
All lanes of eastbound I-10 are blocked due to a vehicle fire at the Evangeline Thruway interchange.
I-10 Eastbound is closed and all traffic is being diverted off the interstate at the University Avenue exit. The I-10 Eastbound on-ramp at I-49 is also closed.
At least one person was injured, and was taken to a local hospital, officials said.
The Lafayette Police Department said the road is closed due to "a major incident involving an 18-wheeler fire." Preliminary investigation suggests the truck struck a guard rail before catching fire, authorities said.
