Athlete of the Week: Loreauville's Blake Delcambre
LOREAUVILLE, LA. (KLFY) -- Loureauville's Blake Delcambre was named KLFY's Athlete of the Week.
Loreauville has five wins on the season, including a stretch of five straight wins.
The most recent of which came at the expense of the reigning D3 Select State Champs, Catholic New Iberia. That 40-28 win was due to some great play from Delcambre's talent and hardwork.
"We started off the game with a kick return, brought the momentum up, and we never let off." Delcambre said.
Delcambre played one of his best of games of the season, in part due to a kickoff return for a touchdown. So far this season Delcambre had 19 carries,193 yards rushing and accounted for 4 touchdowns.
"We just opened it up big and then we just kept going." Delcambre commented by highlighting what motivates him and his teammates.
Terry Martin, Loreauville's Head Coach, acknowledged how Delcambre exemplifies a special talent he sees within his team.
"He's more of the athlete type, you know, who's going to run the ball more?" Martin said. "He does throw the ball well, and when we do have to throw it, but we haven't had to do it that much. He just had a career game that night, did a lot of things right. I think the biggest improvement he's made is that he's matured as a player."
Blake, Coach Martin, and Loreauville are 3-0 in district play. The Tigers are back on the gridiron Friday night when they host Franklin, and look to remain undefeated in district play.
