Juvenile arrested, charged with possession of stolen gun in Abbeville
ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- An unidentified juvenile was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen gun, authorities said.
Video surveillance showed juvenile in possession of a handgun, police said. When officers arrived Tuesday to serve the resulting complaint, the juvenile and other people were seen on camera entering an apartment while still in possession of the firearm. Shortly after, the juvenile left the apartment and was taken into custody without incident.
A search warrant was obtained for the apartment the juvenile was seen leaving, where officers recovered three handguns along with an assault-style rifle, officials said.
One of the handguns, identified by police as the one the juvenile had in the video, was reported stolen through the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, authorities said.
The juvenile was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and was taken to a juvenile correctional facility. No other details were released.
The Abbeville Police Department was assisted by the Abbeville City Marshall's Office and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office.
