Driver apprehended in fatal hit-and-run incident in Vermilion Parish
VERMILION PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A driver has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run incident.
Logan Hoke, of Duson, was arrested for hit and run driving resulting in death.
Last night, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police began investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on La. 700 near La 92. The crash claimed the life of Tony Barthe Jr., 28, of Rayne.
Officials said on Nov. 2, Barthe was located deceased along La. 700, where evidence indicated he had been struck by a vehicle. The suspected driver, later identified as Hoke, was also located.
Authorities determined that Hoke was driving north on La. 700 behind another vehicle. At the same time, Barthe was walking in the southbound lane. Officials said Hoke attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle, when the vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck Barthe, who sustained fatal injuries. Hoke did not remain at the scene and continued north after the collision.
Hoke was sent to a Vermilion Parish jail. No information was release regarding bail.
This crash remains under investigation.
