8-year-old hit by car while trick-or-treating in Lafayette Parish
LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA. (KLFY) -- An 8-year-old child was struck by a vehicle while trick-or-treating on Friday evening, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office said.
According to deputies, the incident occurred at the intersection of Blue Heron Drive and Grazing Trace around 5:30 p.m. on Friday Oct. 31.
During the investigation it was revealed the driver of the vehicle was 16 years old and allegedly driving 25 miles per hour when the child struck, deputies reported.
The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Details of the of child's condition was not released.
Deputies said neither impairment nor distraction is suspected to have contributed to the collision.
