New Iberia concrete repair project to cause lane and road closures
NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) -- The City of New Iberia motorists may need to seek alternative routes starting tomorrow.
Street repairs on Hacker Street in New Iberia are set to begin on Thursday, Nov. 6, with Alonso, LLC handling the construction.
The repairs will take place on the 700 block of Hacker Street, stretching from E. First Street to Edwin Street. Construction is scheduled to last approximately eight weeks, weather permitting, with work hours from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and most Saturdays.
Saw-cutting operations will commence on Thursday, followed by concrete removal starting on Monday, Nov. 10. The project involves removing existing concrete in designated areas and installing new concrete.
During construction, lane closures and road closures will be necessary, with traffic detours in place to guide motorists around the work area. Road closure signs, barricades and detour signs will be used to warn and direct traffic.
Residents and drivers should anticipate time delays and be cautious of loose gravel and dirt on the roadway. The City of New Iberia advises avoiding the construction area if possible and driving with caution, especially near work crews and equipment.
