Fatal camper fire in St. Landry Parish under investigation

ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA. (KLFY) – A camper fire in Washington killed a 35-year-old man early Wednesday morning, The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal said.
Firefighters said they responded to reports of a camper engulfed in flames in the 3400 block of Grand Prairie Highway shortly after midnight. Upon arrival, crews discovered one victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released.
At this stage of the investigation, officials have not yet confirmed whether the camper was equipped with a functioning smoke alarm.
The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
