K-State basketball losing streak extends to four
STILLWATER, Okla. (KSNT) - The Wildcats struggles continued on Saturday in Oklahoma.
K-State lost to Oklahoma State, 75-72, in Stillwater to fall to 4-5 in Big 12 play. The loss extends the Wildcats' losing streak to five. OSU entered the game 9-12 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
K-State has now turned the ball over 15 or more times in six of its last seven games.
The scoring was slow for both teams early in the game but a cold shooting start for OSU helped put K-State in front 15-9 after eight minutes of play. Tang's team led by as many as nine in the first half. However, a 12-0 Cowboy run boosted the home team to a five point lead late in the first half. Arthur Kaluma's old fashioned three-point-play pulled the 'Cats back within a score before the midway point. Kansas State trailed 29-27 at halftime.
Cam Carter tied the game with a jump shot on the first possession of the second half but Oklahoma State responded with a three-pointer and never surrendered the lead in the final 19:21.
K-State got the ball in the final 20 seconds down by three but Cam Carter and Tylor Perry both missed three-pointers in the final possession of the game.
Tylor Perry led the team with 19 points, which all came in the second half. Cam Carter scored 17. The defeat came despite outrebounding OSU, 36-31.
The Wildcats' overall record falls to 14-8 with the loss. K-State returns home for the Sunflower Showdown as KU comes to Manhattan for ESPN's Big Monday on Feb. 5.
