Trooper Ben announces his retirement
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Trooper Ben announced his retirement from the Kansas Highway Patrol after 26 years of service.
Gardner became famous as one of the first "Tweeting Troopers," and when he legally changed his name to Trooper Ben Gardner in 2023 After all the years of service, Gardner sites a deep fatigue as the reasoning for his retirement.
That fatigue does not come from the people of Kansas or the countless lives I’ve had the honor of serving. Being a servant has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
The strain has come from within. From the inner spaces I’ve devoted myself to. Spaces I have deeply loved, but also where I have faced some of my greatest challenges.
said Trooper Ben in a Facebook Post
In his social media post, Gardner reflects on his career and some recent events that he has experienced. Gardner also says that he will share some things from the last five years that he hasn't made public as of yet.
"The past will always be part of me, but the future is calling," said Trooper Ben. "And I’m choosing to live it now."
