400 miles of antique, estate, garage sales in Kansas this weekend
KANSAS (KSNT) - Every third weekend in September, the Highway 36 Treasure Hunt organizes antique, estate and garage sales across 400 miles in north Kansas.
From Sept.18 to 20, communities from Elwood to St. Francis will be filled with local businesses selling everything from produce and baked goods, to antiques and other vintage treasures. The treasure hunt is also a great way to experience historical sites and outdoor activities across northern Kansas.
Highway 36 spans from Colorado to Ohio, and it runs through 13 Kansas counties, including towns like Washington, Marysville and Seneca. The goal of the event is to promote business and tourism across the historic highway, as well as to cultivate thriving communities along the way.
The group organizing the event hopes to work with legislators, government agencies and businesses to achieve the proper funding required for highway maintenance, marketing and road expansion. By creating the treasure hunt, they have supported local businesses and paved the way for new ones to thrive.
For more information on the treasure hunt, as well as stops along the way, check out the U.S. Highway 36 website or the Treasure Hunt Across Kansas Facebook group.
