Béla Fleck is bringing his new Latin jazz group BEATrio to Aggieville
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - Béla Fleck is bringing his new Latin jazz supergroup, BEATrio, to McCain Auditorium later this month.
Fleck is an eighteen-time Grammy Award-winning banjo player, famous for his groups Béla Fleck & The Flecktones and New Grass Revival. His career is defined by his innovative and genre expanding banjo music from bluegrass, jazz, classical and other genres.
In this new group, he is joined by four-time Grammy Award-winner Antonio Sánchez, a drummer and composer best known for his work with jazz legend Pat Metheny, and harpist Edmar Castañeda, who has appeared with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, John Scofield and more.
BEATrio came together in September 2024 during a weeklong run at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. This new trio, Fleck claims, is reminiscent of the early days of the Flecktones, with a tight, jazz-leaning and improvisational focus.
Fleck's group will perform live from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 28. For tickets and more information, you can check out the McCain Auditorium website.
