What were the bright lights next to the moon in the Kansas sky?

TOPEKA (KSNT) - If you woke up early enough on Friday morning, you might've seen two bright objects next to the moon.

27 News reached out to NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Brenda Culbertson, who said she also saw the lights in the sky. She said the brightest object on the right of the moon is Venus and the light below Venus is Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo.

Culbertson said Kansans will get another chance to see the trifecta of lights in the early morning hours on Saturday, Sept. 20. She said on Saturday, the moon will be lower in the east and Venus will appear lower than Regulus.
