Kansas dominates in Big 12 opener, defeating West Virginia 41-10

LAWRENCE (KSNT) - The Kansas Jayhawks are 1-0 in conference play after a 41-10 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers.

On the 'Hawks first drive, Jalon Daniels finds Levi Wentz for a 41-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0 early.

Kansas' defense was dominant in the first quarter, forcing the Mountaineers to go three and out on all but one of its drives.

The Jayhawks would keep the momentum on its side in the second quarter with a 42-yard field goal from Laith Marjan to make it 10-0 KU.

West Virginia would get on the board a few drives later, with a 26-yard field goal to make it 10-3.

Kansas would respond on the following drive, as Daniels connects with Leshon Williams for 39 yards to increase the lead, 17-3.

A late drive propelled by a 28-yard run from Daniels lead to a 44-yard field goal by Marjan, to give the 'Hawks a 20-3 lead at the half.

KU wasn't satisfied with its 17-point lead. Alabama transfer Emmanuel Henderson Jr. gets a 94-yard kickoff return touchdown to extend the Jayhawks advantage, 27-3.

The 'Hawks would score on its next drive, a 7-yard touchdown pass to from Daniels to Boden Groen making it 34-3.

West Virginia would finally get a touchdown in the fourth, with a 13-yard run to make things 34-10.

The Jayhawks would keep its foot on the gas on the following drive. A 62-yard rush from Leshon Williams increases KU's lead, 41-10. Williams had two touchdowns on the night, one receiving and one rushing.
