Fall equinox starts Monday afternoon

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Fall is officially starting tomorrow with the fall equinox, where the sun will be directly over the equator, marking the beginning of the season. The daylight hours have been getting shorter and that will only continue, as well as the temperatures getting cooler overall. Although, 27 News talked to Kansans who say that’s something they look forward to.

“I appreciate that the days get cooler, “ Lindsborg resident Mandy Todd said. "Not a big fan of winter, so I’d really like to stay in fall and or spring all the time.”

“It has to be my favorite season out of all the others,” Topeka resident Evie Ricker said. “It’s also just a cooler time, so I get to wear a lot more hoodies and stuff.”

Foliage is another part of fall that is widely liked. According to our 27 News Weather Team, peak foliage is expected in late October to early November. And Kansans say picking up those leaves isn’t something that bothers them.

“I’ve got two young boys, so I can send them out to do the leaf raking,” Todd said. “It doesn’t bother me that much,”

“I think it’s really nice, actually, just like hearing the crunch underneath your feet kind of signifies that fall’s coming,” Ricker said.

The fall equinox officially happens Monday afternoon at 1:19 P.M.
