Hornets fall to Bronchos, 56-22
EDMOND, Ok (KSNT) - It was a tough start to the road trip for Emporia State as they fell to Central Oklahoma, 56-22.
UCO started off hot, scoring two touchdowns and a field goal to take an early 17-0 lead before the Hornets scored its first points. Kingsley Bennet found Camden Crooks for a 35-yard touchdown to make it 17-6.
The Hornets grabbed two points on a safety to close the gap, making it 17-8.
The Bronchos would score two more touchdowns to close out the first half with a commanding 31-8 lead.
The Hornets would get on the board again in the middle of the third, with an 8-yard rushing touchdown from Diego Cearns. Bronchos still lead, 34-15.
UCO kept its foot on the gas, building its lead to 49-15 at the end of the third.
The Bronchos would score one last touchdown to increase its point total to 56.
Keveon Robbins would rush for 4 yards for a touchdown to make it 56-22.
Ben Harris was 9 for 21 with two interceptions, while Mason Dennis was 10 for 20 with two interceptions.
Up next, the Hornets will visit Central Missouri on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
