Motorcyclist seriously injured in Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) - A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Tuesday after laying down his motorcycle to avoid crashing on I-70 in Topeka.

Around 4:50 p.m., a 40-year-old motorcyclist from Auburn was driving a Yamaha XVS1100 westbound along I-70 in slow traffic. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the man braked for slow traffic and laid down his motorcycle. The KHP said no other vehicles were hit.

The 40-year-old was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment. The KHP reported that he wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
