13th annual pumpkin 5k race and trunk or treat

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The 13th annual Pumpkin 5k Run and trunk or treat was a huge success this year.

Located at Felker Park, people were able to run, walk or stroll to raise money to Eradicate Polio. Topeka High Interact Club members and the Topeka South Rotary also put on a trunk or treat for families to enjoy after the race concluded. 

"It's meant to be fun, it's a gimmick, there's people that have fun dressing up, we see all kinds of wild costumes, I bought this [pumpkin suit] suit about 10 years ago." Pumpkin Run Emcee Faron Barr said. "And you know, wear it every year; people expect to see me in it." 

"Trunk and treat makes it a lot safer," Topeka South Rotary President Cassandra Taylor said. "It provides people an opportunity to come in one safe spot where there's not a lot of cars, not a lot of traffic."

Last year, over $10,000 was raised, and organizers hoping to raise even more this year.
