Chiefs beat Commanders 28-7, moves to 5-3 on the season
KANSAS CITY (KSNT)- Kansas City shook off a slow first half to down the Washington Commanders 28-7 on Monday night.
With a tied 7-7 game at halftime, the Chiefs would score 21 straight for the win, as head coach Andy Reid applaud his team overcoming mental toughness.
"It's tough to score points in this league and any you can get I appreciate. You need mental toughness when you play in this league," Reid said postgame. "You have to fight through highs and lows so I appreciate the effort in our team doing that."
Patrick Mahomes shook off some rust after throwing two interception in the first half and finished with 329 yards and three touchdowns.
He connected with Kareem Hunt, Rashee Rice, and Travis Kelce.
Kelce caught his 100th career touchdown in the win. He's the fourth tight end in NFL history with 100 career touchdown reception including playoffs. Kelce would finish with four catches for a game-high 99 yards.
Rice had nine receptions for 93 yards and the score while Hunt had both a score though the air and on the ground.
The defense intercepted Marcus Mariota twice as Mike Danna and Jack Cochrane came away with takeaways.
Kansas City will to make it four straight wins on Sunday traveling to Buffalo to take on Josh Allen and the Bills.
