City manager talks Hotel Topeka, mayor's race
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Topeka City Manager sat down with 27 News on Monday to talk about some of the latest city topics, including future plans for a local hotel.
Perez said negotiations are ongoing with Endeavor Hotel Group regarding Hotel Topeka. The City of Topeka is working out the final details for an agreement to transfer ownership of the hotel to Endeavor while Shawnee County continues talks regarding the nearby Maner Conference Center.
"All indications are yeah it's a green light," Perez said. "And hopefully we'll have an announcement here. I'm trying to get something... we are trying to get something going as far as an announcement by the end of the year."
Perez said the return of the Topeka Scarecrows is providing big benefits for the local community and economy. He also touched on the race for mayor in Topeka, along with the various city council races.
"The beauty of my job and my team is that no matter who's sitting in the seat, we have ongoing priorities that we'll continue to work on," Perez said. "No matter who's sitting in the council seats, I mean, infrastructure, public safety, economic development, homelessness and housing they're all gonna be important."
