Topeka elementary schools set up 'haunted gyms' for students

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The countdown to Halloween is on, and one school district is taking advantage of the situation.

Topeka elementary schools are celebrating the fall season with "haunted gyms." It gives students the chance to work on motor skills like balance and coordination during the fall season.

"These gyms allow students that maybe don't celebrate Halloween to still have the opportunity to participate because it is spooky and not Halloween-based," said Troy St. Clair, one of the P.E. Coaches at Scott Dual Language Magnet School. "So we're trying to be inclusive to all to where they get to have a unique experience working on standards and a thematical way."

Many of the students had to say about what their favorite part of the gym was. Several Topeka schools are also planning Halloween parades for Friday, Oct. 31.
