I-70 west to shut down in Topeka Friday to Sunday

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Part of I-70 will be closed down this weekend for additional work on the Polk-Quincy Viaduct Project in Topeka.

The Kansas Department of Transportation issued a press release on Oct. 30 reporting that westbound I-70 will be closed between 10th Avenue and MacVicar Avenue starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Work is expected to be complete by midnight on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Westbound drivers will have to use the 10th Avenue exit. Detours will be posted directing traffic south to I-470 or north to K-4, then to U.S. 24 and on to U.S. 75. A local street detour will also be posted taking highway travelers from 10th Avenue to the westbound I-70 on-ramp.

KDOT reports the First Street will stay open during the closure. More closures may come in the future if deemed necessary for ongoing work on the viaduct.
