Man convicted in 2022 murder case under I-70
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A man was convicted of first degree murder related to a 2022 case that occurred underneath an I-70 bridge.
District Attorney Mike Kagay announced on Oct. 31st that Cody Michael Degand, 29, was found guilty for the murder of John Grubb JR, 63, at the time of death. Degand will remain in the custody of the Shawnee County Department of Corrections, without bond, pending sentencing. There is currently no sentencing date.
On Sept. 30, 2022, the Topeka Police Department found a body under the Polk-Quincy Viaduct in the area of the 200 block of southeast Quincy after 8 a.m. By Oct. 6 of 2022, Degand had been arrested.
