Chiefs come up short, lose to Buffalo in AFC showdown
BUFFALO, New York (KSNT)- It was an instant classic Sunday afternoon in Buffalo, Kansas City however, coming up on the losing side.
The Chiefs fell short to the Buffalo Bills 28-21 on Sunday.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 250 yards and an interception in the loss.
Rashee Rice led the receiving core with four catches for 80 yards. Hollywood Brown hauled in two catches for 73 yards while Travis Kelce had 66 yards on four catches.
Josh Allen threw for 273 yards and a score while rushing in for two. James Cook had 27 carries for 114 yards on the day.
Buffalo struck first when Josh Allen capped off an 11-play 84-yard drive with a 23-yard pass to Dalton Kincaid nearly midway through the first.
The Chiefs would find the endzone early in the second with a direct snap to Rashee Rice for a three-yard score. Harrison Butker added a 46-yard field goal later in the quarter to give the Chiefs a 10-7 lead.
Buffalo responded with back-to-back rushing touchdowns from Ty Johnson and Josh Allen. Butker would knock in another field goal as the Chiefs would trail at the half 21-13.
Out of the break, Allen scored with 1:34 left in the third to go up two scores.
The Chiefs wouldn't find the endzone in the third but would make up for it with Kareem Hunt running in for a score followed by a successful two point conversion to make it 28-21.
Buffalo had a chance to seal the win but Matt Prater missed a 52-yard field goal with with 22 seconds remaining.
The Chiefs had two shots at the endzone but couldn't convert in the loss.
