K-State women's hoops dominates in season opener, defeating Omaha 100-35
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - The Kansas State Wildcats are off to a hot start for the 2025-26 season, defeating Omaha 100-35 in the season opener. Nearly half the Wildcats' points came from its bench.
The 'Cats started the night on an 11-0 run before Omaha scored its first points via free throws. At the end of the half, K-State was up 50-9.
Despite the dominant win, head coach Jeff Mittie knows there is plenty the team can improve on.
"I didn't like our pace at times in the half court," Mittie said. "Our timing in that has got to be better."
Sophomore guard Izela Arenas led the way with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists. She was 8 for 12 on field goals, with a single three on the night.
Junior guard Taryn Sides scored 15 points with 12 assists and seven rebounds. Sides was 5 of 7 from field goal range, and 3 for 4 outside the arch.
Up next, the 'Cats will take on SMU in Dallas on Nov. 8. Tip off is set for 4 p.m.
