Chiefs LT Josh Simmons returns to team following absence

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs got an essential part of their offense back on Monday.

Starting rookie left tackle Josh Simmons is back with the team after missing the last four games after dealing with a family issue, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport.

The Chiefs selected Simmons in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft and he'd been playing at an elite level prior to his abrupt absence from the team.

Jaylon Moore stepped in while Simmons was away and performed swimmingly, doing a solid job protecting Patrick Mahomes' blindside.

But, the line struggled tremendously against Buffalo on Sunday as Mahomes was under duress all game as the Chiefs played with three backup offensive lineman.

The bye week couldn't come at a better time for Simmons, along with the rest of the team. They will have the opportunity to regroup as they enter the second half of the season with a tough schedule ahead while currently sitting outside the final Wild Card spot at 5-4.

Simmons return to the team should be a huge boost to the offense, especially when they face an excellent Broncos defense coming out the bye.
