AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport expects to receive more than $39 million in federal funding for the airport’s expansion project, according to U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin).
A release said the money would come from the Infrastructure Law “to advance airport expansion and make the passenger process more efficient.” The law authorizes funding for public transportation.
Doggett said so far, the airport has received more than $100 million through the Infrastructure Law.
According to a release, roughly $14 million of the new funding would go toward the design of the airport’s new 20 gates, as well as the infrastructure needed to meet its long-term passenger activity level demand.
The remaining funds would go toward the Barbara Jordan Terminal’s atrium to accommodate more passengers moving through the terminal.
"Throughout these endeavors, customer service remains a top priority; AUS is looking ahead with optimism, working to deliver even greater excellence to its valued passengers and larger community," the airport said.
