Taylor man sentenced to 43 years in prison for cocaine trafficking
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A Taylor man was sentenced Tuesday in connection with the possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver, according to the Williamson County District Attorney's Office.
The DA's office said a jury sentenced 47-year-old Barry Deshawn White to serve 43 years in prison.
The conviction stemmed from an investigation by an anonymous tip in November 2024, reporting illegal narcotics sales from a home in Taylor, according to the DA's office.
Evidence presented at the trial showed White conducting hand-to-hand transactions from his vehicle in front of a home. According to the press release, law enforcement, when searching White's vehicle, found uncovered bags containing 66 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and Ziplock bags.
The DA's office noted White had an extensive criminal record that included prior convictions of evading and resisting arrest, possession of controlled substances and assault. He was also previously arrested in 2008 for felony possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
"This verdict and sentence send a clear message that drug trafficking has no place in Williamson County," said District Attorney Shawn Dick. "Our office remains committed to working with law enforcement to disrupt these illegal operations and hold repeat offenders accountable, ensuring the safety of our community."
