APD: Teen arrested in connection to Lit Lounge shooting that injured four in March
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A 17-year-old accused of shooting several people at Lit Lounge in downtown Austin back in March 2025 was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault-Mass Shooting, according to the Austin Police Department.
Troy Lee Tanksley was taken into custody on Monday, July 14, by the Aggravated Assault Unit and APD Gang Suppression Unit, for an unrelated violent crime, the department said. Authorities later charged Tanksley for committing the mass shooting, a first-degree felony.
KXAN reached out to Tanksley's attorney for a statement. We will update this if a statement is received.
In the early morning hours on March 30, KXAN reported that Austin Police officers responded to a high-priority call around 1 a.m. for a shooting near the intersection of Sixth and Brazos Streets. When officers arrived, they tended to a gunshot victim. APD officers later discovered three more victims injured with gunshot wounds.
Police believe the teen shot into a crowd at the bar, injuring four people. Authorities said he then left the scene.
Further investigation found the teen was trying to sell the gun through Instagram messages, and authorities said, a phone linked with the suspect was tracked in downtown Austin at the time of the shooting.
Tanksley is currently booked in the Travis County Jail on a $1 million bond.
