Austin Animal Center hosting free summer spay, neuter clinic
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Animal Center is partnering with Greater Goods Charity to host a free summer spay and neuter clinic from July 28 to Aug. 1 at the Circuit of the Americas.
The clinic will provide free vaccinations, flea and tick prevention and microchips to pets who undergo surgery, according to the city of Austin.
The press release highlighted several benefits to spaying and neutering, including reducing the risk of certain cancers and infections, curbing aggression, marking, and excessive vocalization.
The city said this was the fifth free clinic held for Austin in the past 10 months, with one more planned by the end of 2025.
The last four clinics provided spay and neuter services for over 4,000 pets, and the upcoming clinic is expected to complete 1,200 surgeries, according to the press release.
Registration and drop-off for the clinic will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will continue until 10 a.m., or until the schedule is full for each day.
