Police: 18-year-old arrested, charged with capital murder in shooting at Leander park
AUSTIN (KXAN) — An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in the parking lot of Robin Bledsoe Park in Leander earlier this week, according to the Leander Police Department. Police also identified the victim in the shooting.
Shaunathan Raby, of Cedar Park, was arrested on a charge of capital murder, LPD said on social media Friday.
Attorney information was not available for Raby, as of Friday. We will update this if that changes.
Police also identified the victim as 26-year-old Bodhi Allen Linman of Round Rock.
Around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, LPD officers responded to a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man, later identified as Linman, with gunshot wounds. Officers "immediately administered life-saving measures until the Leander Fire Department and EMS arrived."
Linman was taken to St. David's Round Rock Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Police said the suspect, identified as Raby, drove away from the scene before police arrived. Officers then began their investigation and spoke with "numerous witnesses at the park," and began searching for Raby and the vehicle.
On Thursday, police requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to arrest Raby. Officers with the task force arrested Raby in the 6800 block of McNeil Drive in Austin without incident. He was taken to the Leander Police Department, according to a news release from the task force
Detectives with LPD are asking anyone who may have "information, cell phone video, doorbell , or other surveillance footage" in connection with the shooting to contact police via the Submit a Tip on the LPD app.
The shooting remained under investigation Friday.
