Williamson County breaks ground on Ronald Reagan Boulevard project

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Williamson County and the Texas Department of Transportation broke ground on the State Highway 195 at Ronald Reagan Boulevard project in Georgetown on Monday, a press release from the county said. 

The project -- which aims to improve safety and mobility -- will construct a single ramp that connects westbound SH 195 to Ronald Reagan Blvd, the release said. It will provide a right-lane exit to allow drivers direct access to Ronald Reagan Blvd, rather than making a left turn across traffic to access Ronald Regan via Rattlesnake Road.

WGI is the project engineer and Joe Bland Construction is the contractor. According to the release, the project cost is estimated at $3.6 million and is funded by the voter-approved 2019 WilCo Road Bond. 

Commissioner Precinct 3 Valerie Covey said in the release that this is the start of another “great project for our road bond program.” Covey added the project will address safety issues that “our residents experience every day, especially folks living in Sun City and the many other developments coming to Ronald Reagan Boulevard.” 

“Providing direct access from SH 195 to Ronald Reagan will make it much safer for drivers who are currently crossing the roadway in front of fast-moving traffic,” Covey said.

The project is anticipated to be completed by summer 2026. 

Williamson County and the TxDOT will construct three additional ramps to connect SH 195 to Ronald Reagan, the release said. Construction on the remaining three ramps is currently anticipated to begin spring 2027. The release said funding for this portion of the project was through the voter-approved 2023 WilCo Road Bond.
