GCSO: 2 students arrested after alleged 'viable threats' at Harper High School
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Two students were arrested after allegedly making threats towards students and faculty at Harper High School, Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office said in a Saturday press release.
On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office received a call from Harper Independent School District about a potential threat that involved a male student at Harper High School.
After an investigation, authorities believed there was a “viable threat to the students and staff of the HISD” which led to authorities issuing arrest warrants for the student, the release said.
That student was taken to a juvenile detention center and faces charges of a 3rd Degree Felony and State Jail Felony, the release said.
The following day, authorities obtained a second warrant for another student who also attended Harper High School. According to the release, that student was also charged with a State Jail Felony with a second warrant pending and taken to a juvenile detention center.
Attorney information was not available for the juveniles as of Monday. We will update this if that changes.
GSCO said there is no longer a threat to Harper ISD at this time.
