At least $4.5 million in damages after Domain fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — At least $4.5 million worth of damage was reported after a fire broke out at an apartment complex at The Domain on Tuesday.

According to the Austin Fire Department, the cause of the fire was ruled to be accidental, citing an electrical short in the wall.

AFD said 28 apartments and multiple businesses were impacted.

According to AFD, 16 residents contacted the American Red Cross. Six of those were directly affected by fire damage.

Around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, AFD crews responded to the 11600 block of Century Oaks Terrace for reports of smoke.

By 1:30 p.m., the fire was upgraded to a second alarm, and then a third alarm by 2:45 p.m.

AFD did not specify when it was able to get the fire under control.
