The City of Austin Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management department is hosting its 4th Annual Get Ready Central Texas Emergency Preparedness Fair. Taking place on Friday, September 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Austin Community College Eastview Campus, this event is a great way to learn how you and your family can stay safe in any season. There will be plenty of games to play, and refreshments will be provided. Use this event to make friends and meet your neighbors at this free, family-friendly event. Texas Women Songwriters Fest

Music is a way to speak to the soul and tells a wonderful story from life experiences. That's what the Texas Women Songwriters Festival is all about. Taking place from Friday, September 19, through Sunday, September 21, at the Historic Downtown Lockhart, this free event brings in artists from all over to play at nine different venues. MAS Cultura is hosting their Los Caminos de la Vida at Dada Labs in Austin. The event is a Latino-led cultural celebration during Hispanic Heritage Month. Battle for the Paddle

The Bobcats are ready to make Central Texas proud and win this year's Battle for the Paddle. The Nicholls Colonels are heading down to San Marcos for the 32nd clash between the two teams. Dating back to 1980, the two teams have had a rivalry culminating in the first Battle for the Paddle in 1998. So far, Texas State has narrowly held the lead on the tally with 16-15. This will be the first time they have met since 2019. Go support the Bobcats as the game takes place Saturday, September 20, at the Jim Wacker Field at UFCU Stadium in San Marcos. We know, running and margaritas don't always go hand in hand, but this is one you won't want to miss. This Saturday, September 20, the City of Taylor is playing host to plenty of margaritas. The Margarita Mile is technically more than a mile; it's a 5K sip-and-stroll where every stop has a delicious drink. Then, at the very end, you'll be able to vote for the Best Margarita on the Mile. 2025 Jr. Texas Water Safari

Ready to jump in the water? It's not cold just yet, so it's the perfect time to take part in the Jr. Texas Water Safari. Taking place on Saturday, September 20, the event is a shorter version of the Texas Water Safari (16 miles) and runs from San Marcos City Park to Staples Highway 1977 Bridge. Registration can only be done on the day of the race at 8 a.m. There will be food and drinks before and after the race, along with cash drawings at the awards.
