Multiple people, pets rescued from south Austin fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — People and pets had to be rescued by firefighters Friday afternoon after a fire at a residence in south Austin.

The Austin Fire Department said crews are working the fire in the 5300 block of Indio Cove. That's near West Gate Boulevard.

"Multiple civilians and pets rescued by firefighters," AFD wrote on social media.

The department added there were no apparent injuries to three people rescued from a second-story balcony.

Multiple pets are also being helped by firefighters and Austin-Travis County EMS.
