Unique license plate auction underway, how to bid

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Have you ever been envious of someone's specialty license plate? Well, this could be your chance to have your very own.

The 2025 My Plates Great Plate Auction has created 50 one-of-a-kind license plate messages.

“There are a lot of fun and unique plate messages available in this auction, providing Texans a great opportunity to secure one as their official plate,” said Steve Farrar, CEO and president of My Plates. “It’s a chance to tell your story every time you hit the road.”

Some plate options include: TEXAN5, YAAALL and 8EVO, as well as rare two-number and two-letter plate combinations.

“This limited auction features 50 unique lots, each with a message that’s as rare as the opportunity to own it,” My Plates said. “With over 100 My Plates Select backgrounds to choose from including new Premium Embossed designs, your winning message will shine brighter than ever.”

Organizers said the online auction ends Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. Each license plate being auctioned starts at $600, and bidders must be registered in order to place a bid.
