Andre Iguodala (knee) will play in Game 5 vs. Rockets
Iguodala hyperextended his left knee late in Game 4 when Chris Paul bumped into his leg after a James Harden missed free throw.
The Warriors didn’t include Andre Iguodala on their game day injury report Wednesday afternoon, meaning the veteran forward is available to play in Game 5 against the Rockets Wednesday night after hyperextending his left knee late in Monday’s Game 4 loss.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Tuesday that Iguodala was probable, but he participated in shootaround Wednesday morning before being cleared.
Iguodala suffered the injury with about 10 seconds left in Game 4 and the Warriors trailing 111-108. James Harden missed his second of two free throws, and Iguodala grabbed the rebound while Chris Paul knocked into his left leg.
Iguodala immediately reached for his knee as the Warriors called timeout, and later he left the Toyota Center with a significant limp.
After scoring in double figures six of the Warriors’ seven games prior to Game 4 against the Rockets, Iguodala managed only seven points on 3-of-9 shooting and a 1-of-4 clip from 3 on Monday. In the 2019 playoffs he’s averaging 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists per game while shooting 40.5 percent from deep.
Iguodala has started each game of the Western Conference Semifinals alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green after not starting any of the Warriors’ six games against the Clippers in the first round, and he figures to start again Wednesday night.
– Shaun Livingston is questionable for Game 5 with left hip soreness, according to the Warriors.
“He’s just old, just like me,” Kerr, 53, said of the 33-year-old Livingston on Tuesday when asked what caused the soreness. “Not as old as me, but he’s getting close.”
– DeMarcus Cousins continued his on-court work Wednesday morning during and after shootaround as he and the Warriors hold out hope for an NBA Finals return for the big man.
Cousins jogged up and down the court with Warriors staffers and participated in shooting drills after the rest of the team left the court. He tore his left quad early in Game 2 against the Clippers in the first round and has been rehabbing in hopes of a playoff return since.
“It’s good just having him out there playing with us,” Warriors center Kevon Looney said Wednesday. “He can step out and shoot the 15-footer still. Having that energy out on the court is a lot of fun. It’s exciting to see him working after being hurt the last couple of weeks. Him being out there on the court, I know he’s been itching out there to play. He’s on the bench with us and talking. He’s giving us advice. So it’s exciting to see him.”
