Warriors fans: Here are the first new Chase Center area restaurants
The Golden State Warriors and Chase Center teamed up Monday to announce the first round of restaurants and retailers scheduled to open in what’s being called Thrive City, the area surrounding the San Francisco arena.
The Warriors will play their 2019-20 basketball season here, with these restaurants (and retailers) opening on a rolling basis throughout the year. Planners also intend to bring farmers markets, ice skating, yoga sessions and more to this 11-acre mixed-use center.
Here’s what food fans have to look forward to:
High-Energy Food Hall by Chef Michael Mina: Besides operating a full-service restaurant at the site, the acclaimed Bay Area chef will also create a food hall/entertainment mash-up at the complex. This High-Energy concept will feature stands selling the diverse dishes found throughout San Francisco and three full-service bars — plus interactive sports games for fans to play between bites and sips.
Belly & Sweet Belly: Uptown Oakland will be represented in the new digs across the bay by Belly and Sweet Belly, a fusion eatery and dessert window from owner-operators Alan Chun and Alice Woo. Think Korean fried chicken or pork belly tacos followed by made-to-order mini-donuts.
Dumpling Time: This will be a second S.F. restaurant from the folks who run a restaurant by the same name at Potrero Hill, executive chef Do Leung and owners Kash Feng and Jackson Yu. Look for both Chinese xiao long bao (XLB) dumplings and crispy Japanese gyoza, along with hand-cut noodles, shrimp toast and more.
Gott’s Roadside: These high-end Niman Ranch burgers got their start in Wine Country in 1999 at a St. Helena stand. Since then, they’ve grown to include half a dozen locations throughout the Bay Area. And yes, this is a burger joint that comes with a wine list.
Nachoria: This casual Mexican restaurant with Puerto Vallarta-inspired bites made its debut in Burlingame in 2016, has since expanded to Las Vegas and is now planning to offer franchises. As the name indicates, Nachoria specializes in the “triangular art” of nachos.
Mission Bay Wine Bar: A wine bar with sips by the glass or bottle, craft brews and small plates will be launched at Thrive City by the owners of the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant in San Francisco and Oxbow Cheese & Wine in Napa.
