Peninsula man arrested on new identity theft charges

MILLBRAE — Authorities on Monday arrested a 38-year-old Daly City man in connection with a second burglary in which stolen credit cards were used to make purchases.

Mark Puzon was first arrested May 29 after an employee at the Towne Center in San Bruno identified him as the suspect who had used a credit card stolen from a home in San Carlos a day earlier at the center, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, Puzon was identified via video surveillance and witnesses as a suspect in a second burglary, which occurred at an office on the 700 block of El Camino Real in Millbrae on May 22. The sheriff’s office said a set of keys and a wallet were stolen.

The suspect used the keys to unlock the victim’s vehicle, from which additional items were allegedly taken, and a credit card in the victim’s wallet was used to make a “large purchase” from the Best Buy at the Towne Center, according to the sheriff’s office.

Puzon, who was in custody at the Maguire Correctional Facility, was arrested and booked on new charges of commercial burglary, vehicle burglary, identity theft and unauthorized use of an access card.
