Campbell community briefs for the week of June 21
Team Hope walk/run
San Jose Team Hope is hosting its inaugural 5K walk and 10K run June 22 at Campbell Park to support Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
Registration is $60 for adult 10K runners, $25 for adult 5K walkers, and $10 for children at hdsa.org/thwsanjose. Race day check-in is 8-8:45 a.m.
‘Lego Movie’ screening
Everything will be awesomer when the Campbell Library screens “The Lego Movie: The Second Part” June 22 at 2 p.m. in the library’s community room.
The screening is free; the movie is rated PG.
Family Science Fun
The Campbell Library is hosting three family science nights this summer. The first, “Robotics 101,” is set for June 24. “Magnetic Fun” is slated for July 15, and “Slime-o-rama” wraps things up on Aug. 5.
All three workshops are set for 6:30-8 p.m. and are created to allow families to work together to solve a problem.
Registration is required at the library, 77 Harrison Ave.
Summer Concert Series
The Campbell Summer Concert Series continues June 27 with the Joint Chiefs. The band’s sound fuses elements of funk, acid jazz and classic R&B.
Showtime is 6:30-8 p.m. on the Orchard City Green, between the Ainsley House and Campbell City Hall. Blankets, ground covers, tarps are not allowed. Single-person beach towels and beachor lawn chairs are permissible. Animals are not allowed in the park with the exception of guide dogs.
Food, beer and wine will be available for sale and will support the Ainsley House & Museum Foundation.
