New Steph Curry shoes can tell you how loud the crowd is

The NBA season is over. The business of basketball continues in fast break mode.

Another new Steph Curry shoe was revealed Monday morning by Under Armour. The latest Curry 6 gives a nod to Oracle Arena, the fans that routinely filled it on game nights for 47 years, the thunderous exhortations that shook dust off the rafters, and the unique vibe that bonded a team and its followers.

It should come as no surprise that the new shoe is called the Roaracle.

The new shoes have the familiar “SC” identifier. The colors: a bright red upper, a neon-green outsole. The sock liners read “Roar” and “This is Our House.”

Here is the kicker. There are two decibel meters built into the shoes, one on the midsole, the other on the tongue.

Admit it. You thought Dee Brown’s Reebok Pumps were the height of creative footwear technology in the early ’90s? Yeah, me too.

If there is a flaw in the new shoe, it’s that it was released after the Warriors’ final game in Oracle Arena. So the shoe won’t ever be able to tell us how loud the old building was when it was in full throat.

Limited pairs of the new shoe will be made available in select cities in Japan, China and North America beginning Friday.
