Bay Area youth coach charged with 32 counts of sexually abusing a child
A youth sports coach was arrested for allegedly trying to meet a minor for sex.
MARTINEZ — A youth sports coach was arrested and charged with 32 counts related to allegedly sexually abusing a who was less than 14 years old at the time.
Paul Fielder, 60, of Suisun City, was arrested July 11 after allegedly chatting with an undercover cop posing as a minor online, and going to meet the “minor” for sex, according to police.
As police investigated Fielder further, they discovered he’d been sexually abusing a minor for years, according to a news release by the Contra Costa District Attorney’s office. The news release doesn’t say how Fielder and the alleged victim knew each other.
Authorities say Fielder had coached youth sports in Solano County and was employed by at least one high school as a campus supervisor.
Fielder remains in jail in lieu of $3.2 million bail. He is due in court next on July 23.
