Gerston talks spiders
Los Gatos author Larry Gerston will read his “Spencer Spider Just Wants Friends” at the Wooden Horse Sept. 8.
Gerston writes about about Spencer, a human-size spider who helps children learn the importance of accepting cultural and physical differences, under the name R.D. Aardvark. Under his own name, Gerston—a retired political science professor at San Jose State University—has penned a dozen books on everything from civic engagement to the best way to get free samples at Costco.
Gerston’s reading at the Wooden Horse, 796 Blossom Hill Road, is at 3 p.m. For more information, call 408-356-8821.
Help rebuild
Rebuilding Together has more than 30 homeowners and nonprofit facilities in the queue for Fall Rebuilding Day Oct. 19. What the organization needs is more sponsors to make sure all these residences and offices get the TLC they need from volunteers who spend Rebuilding Day making needed repairs.
Rebuilding Together is looking for sponsors to help cover costs and gather volunteers for 12 sites on the list for repairs in the fall. Financial sponsors can choose the homeowner they serve.
For more information, contact Alaina Purcell at 408-578-9519 or alaina@rtsv.org by the Aug. 16 deadline.
