San Jose: Woman killed by hit-and-run driver on King Road
Ford truck was last seen turning onto Story Road after fatal Sunday evening collision near Emma Prusch Farm Park.
SAN JOSE — A woman died after being hit by a pickup truck whose driver then fled the scene on South King Road on Sunday evening, according to San Jose police.
The collision was reported at 7:44 p.m. when the truck traveling south on King hit the victim, who was in a crosswalk at Lido Way near Emma Prusch Farm Park, police said. The vehicle, described as a dark blue or green early 2000s model Ford Ranger with an extended cab, continued on and turned onto westbound Story Road.
The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she died. Her name was not immediately released pending her formal identification and notification of her next of kin.
In addition to the truck description, police released a general description of the driver: a “Hispanic male, with a buzz cut, clean shaven, with a small mustache.”
The collision marked the city’s 37th traffic fatality of the year, and the 15th pedestrian victim of 2019. It was also San Jose’s 10th hit-and-run death of the year.
