Bay Area gang members who admitted aiding in pimp’s murder sentenced to prison
SAN FRANCISCO – Two San Francisco gang members who admitted participating in the murder of the alleged pimp of a fellow gang member’s daughter were each sentenced in federal court Friday to more than two decades in prison.
Antonio Gilton, 33, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William Orrick of San Francisco to 22 years in prison and Alfonso Williams, 42, was sentenced to 25 years. They were members of the Central Divisadero Players
gang, also known as Central Divis Playas or CDP.
Both pleaded guilty in May to charges of conspiring to racketeer and using a gun in a murder and admitted during the plea that they participated in the murder of Calvin Sneed, 22, of Compton, in a drive- by shooting in the city’s Bayview District in 2012.
Sneed was allegedly the pimp of the then-17-year-old daughter of Barry Gilton, a Central Divisadero Players member who is Antonio Gilton’s cousin. Barry Gilton and the girl’s mother, Lupe Mercado, are also accused of
participating in the murder and are due to go on trial in Orrick’s court in February.
Sneed was shot early in the morning of June 4, 2012, as he was on his way to pick up the girl, who had returned from Southern California to her parents’ home.
The two Giltons, Mercado and Williams are among 11 Central Divisadero Players members and associates indicted in 2014 on charges including racketeering conspiracy and murder. The seven others have been
convicted in a trial or pleaded guilty and have been sentenced.
One of them, Reginald Elmore, 30, was given a 22-year prison term by Orrick on Friday. He pleaded guilty in May to racketeering conspiracy and to being liable for the use of a gun in the murder of two men outside the
University of San Francisco in 2008.
