By 5 p.m., it was at 2,500 acres with no containment, CalFire said.
The largest of half a dozen fires that began Monday morning in Napa County burned 2,500 acres in less than 12 hours.
The Hennessey Fire was reported around 6:30 a.m. on Hennessey Ridge Road, near the Chiles Creek inlet to Lake Hennessey, said the Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
By noon, it was at 750 acres, and evacuations were ordered for Hennessey Ridge Road; Chiles Pope Valley Road between Lower Chiles Valley Road and Highway 128; and Highway 128 between Chiles Pope Valley Road and Monticello Road.
By 5 p.m., it was at 2,500 acres with no containment, CalFire said.
The Gamble Fire, 12 miles to the north at the tip of Lake Berryessa, had burned 600 acres by 5 p.m. No evacuations have been ordered for that fire, and it poses no immediate threat to residences, CalFire said.
The four other wildfires in Napa County on Monday are smaller.
